Las Vegas , NV (July 17, 2007) - Critics have been raving about the theatrical sleeper hit of the summer, Chalk, ... the first-ever mockumentary of life in the trenches of that most honorable and frustrating profession.teaching. In the tradition of The Office and those hysterical films by Christopher Guest (Waiting For Gufman, Best In Show, A Mighty Wind ), director Mike Akel provides a rare and realistic teacher's perspective into the absurd, provocative and occasionally volatile world of public education. Released theatrically in over 30 major markets nationally, Chalk became a slow raging hit within indie film and satirical movie lovers alike. The debut film from Arts Alliance America's Morgan Spurlock Presents.line -- films chosen by the Award-winning documentary director, that have distinct social relevance and importance to society and the world -- Chalk delivers an enormous dose of heart, hilarity, and hope for America's most important institution. The DVD will be available beginning September 25, 2007 for a suggested retail price of $24.98. The dealer order cut off date is August 28, 2007.

In the U.S. 50% of teachers quit within the first three years - a disappointing statistic. Chalk presents the reasons why, in an absurd and hysterical manner, from the perspective of two former teachers - Chris Mass and Mike Akel - who wrote and directed the film (Mass also stars as Mr. Stroope in the film).

The DVD is packed with special features including a hilarious film commentary with director/writer Mike Akel, writer/actor Chris Mass and producer Morgan Spurlock; Chalk "mock-PSAs"; a featurette entitled "The Chalk Journey; a film short entitled "Broken Dreams"; "My Most Inspirational Teacher Essays" from the cast and crew; the original theatrical trailer, Spanish subtitles and Closed Captions.

Chalk will receive major marketing support including a print and radio advertising and PR campaign designed to drive millions of additional consumer impressions and an aggressive internet marketing campaign targeting youtube.com, myspace.com, movie and teacher sites. Arts Alliance America will also target first and second-year teachers nationwide with an e-mail blast that alerts them to the availability of the DVD.

Synopsis: It's the beginning of a memorable new year at Harrison High. The self conscious Mr. Stroope is convinced that his time has come -- this year he will win the golden title of "Teacher of the Year". If only his smarter students would stop using words that he doesn't understand. Peek into Mr. Lowrey's History class and viewers will find that he's struggling to even call himself a teacher. Woefully inept due to a complete lack of experience and pathetic social skills, he earnestly stutters his way through class. The only interaction his students offer him is when they steal his chalk.

Men aren't very interested in the spunky and officious female Coach Webb, but as she puts it, "not all P.E. teachers are gay" as she pines for some romantic company. Her once best friend, the newly appointed assistant principle, Mrs. Reddell, doesn't seem to have time for her either. Reddell's new power post is all-consuming as she battles egos, endures teacher conferences and must listen to her lighthouse-obsessed boss. Coach Webb wonders if her former confidante has forgotten just how hard teaching really is.
