NEW YORK , NY - Hart Sharp Video and Showtime have acquired the home video distribution and cable television rights to the documentary film Patriot Act: A Jeffrey Ross Home Movie . The announcement was made at the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW), where the film had it's US Premiere and screened to many soldiers from nearby Fort Hood , who were admitted free with Military I.D. The agreement was negotiated by Hart Sharp Video President Joe Amodei with Larry Greenberg of Showtime along with Liesl Copland of Cinetic Media on behalf of the filmmaker. Dedicated to the memory of entertainment icon Bob Hope, the film is being released with the blessing and support of the U.S.O.

Premiering on Showtime on Memorial Day Weekend and hitting DVD on June 27, 2006, Patriot Act: A Jeffrey Ross Home Movie provides an intimate and sometimes hilarious behind-the-scenes look at the "Iraq Pack's" U.S.O tour headlined by comedian Drew Carey along with other well-known comics -- including Kathy Kinney, Blake Clark, Kyle Dunnigan, Andres Fernandez and Rocky Laporte -- as they entertained battle weary GI's stationed in remote parts of the war-torn country's Sunni Triangle. Jeffrey Ross' recent credits include the "Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson."

"All of us at Hart Sharp Video are honored to be a part of this release," Amodei said. "This documentary is a fitting way for us to salute the soldiers of the United States military who fight for our freedom around the world."

"I didn't intend to shoot a movie in Iraq , but because I'm a comedian, I was permitted access to the people and locations that no journalist could ever see," said Ross. "I believe the result offers a rare pat on the back to the men and women of the US military who are braving immense challenges with spirit and a sense of humor".
